Why Global Gifts That Matter?
We at Global Giving Circle (GGC) recently learned that between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Americans spend over 400 billion dollars* on holiday gifts. Despite this outpouring of generosity, 83% of American adults said they received unwanted gifts during the holidays.†
Those statistics got us thinking. What kinds of gifts really represent the spirit of the holidays and help people to feel connected to each other? Would it be possible to find gifts that show that you care, show the thought you have put into your gift, and at the same time, help improve someone else’s life?
We began to search for interesting, useful, and inspired gifts that would delight the recipient, endowed with a spirit that returns to the true intent of holiday gift giving. What we found were a number of organizations doing marvelous work that provided exactly the kinds of gifts we were looking for.
Global Gifts That Matter (GGTM) was born.
Purchasing a GGTM gift will support organizations that work around the globe addressing important issues with creative, local solutions. These organizations do not receive governmental support or get significant charitable funding.
Some organizations offer material gifts that come from the areas of the world that they work in. Every gift has a great story behind it, and is part of a development project empowering a local population. These gifts include jewelry, handicrafts, organic chocolates, 100% recycled handmade sandals, bags, purses and much more. They are generally priced from $10 – $100.
For other organizations, we offer ways to make a direct donation in support of the wonderful work they are doing, in honor of someone you care about.

Global Giving Circle has carefully selected organizations that empower the communities they work in to help meet basic needs, provide education, and improve the environment.

The visionary founders of these amazing grassroots non-profits and early stage social enterprises are real unsung heroes. They are taking on the world’s most difficult challenges with simple, brilliant solutions. Many are working in difficult areas plagued by poverty, wars, genocides, sex trafficking, and disease. Others have traditional businesses but place an emphasis on giving back to the communities from which they source their products.
