The average African woman spends up to two hours a day travelling to a reliable water source – a needed commodity for her family.
The women of Gone Rural boMake, a cooperative of artisans who produce exquisite home products sold in Europe and America, have been losing precious time collecting water which could otherwise be spent producing income-generating handicrafts. The Q-Drum, which is a water transportation systems shaped like a tire, is an innovative solution that allows a woman to transport 10 times the amount of water than she could normally carry. In 2008, the Global Giving Circle donated 10 Q-Drums. There are 700 rural Swazi women who make up the cooperative, and therefore more are needed. Here's your opportunity to be a part of this campaign.

For $99, which includes the purchase of the Q-Drum and transportation costs from the manufacturer in South Africa, you can make a significant difference in the lives of not only these women, but also their families and entire community. With each purchase you will receive a beautifully woven pill box. See photo on the right.

For more information on the Q-Drum click here.

Clicking on the donate button will bring you to Gone Rural boMake's site where you can make your donation.
