ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
In 2007, Janice Ashby and two New York colleagues founded Eco Africa Social Ventures which is based in New York. The mission of Eco Africa Social Ventures is to develop crafting infrastructures within which communities of women in Zimbabwe are empowered through income-generating skills so they may find their feet again after a total collapse of the Zimbabwe economy. Money is raised through donations to buy life sustaining food and essentials to support women of the crafting collectives and their families. Other important services are supported by the organization such as education via day care for the artisan's small children and scholarships for their older children.
Helping Hands For Africa is the online store which sells Eco Africa Social Ventures’ products. Proceeds from sales go directly towards generating more jobs, work and economic empowerment for women and their families in Zimbabwe.
